((SPOILERS WARNING, PLS DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED THE GAME))
""The happiness your're trying to create isn't real."" is def going in my vault of videogame quotes I love, this took me like 3 hours (w a year gap inbetween playing, 107 saves because im a menace at saving systems lol) and I honestly found Aria anoying at first, I've seen so many characters like her that never get depth and are just there to be the "clutsy cute petite girl whos afraid of everything" and so on, but w each chapter and w each piece of lore i discovered i started to understand her more and more; and by the end i genuinely liked her a lot, to the point where i didnt want her to cry ^^". All of the characters though, including the hostile creatures from the books, and the talking books themselves, had so much depth in my opinion; theyre all lovable in their own unique ways, and while i usually look for horror rpg maker games w sad or creepy endings, i actually enjoyed the writing and end a lot (i went for true end route), it reminded me that sometimes i need a change of pace in what i play and read rather than sticking to a genre i feel most famaliar with. the tumblr guide was my savior during my first (and currently only, though perhaps some day in the far future ill play this game again for memories) playthrough. the art, gameplay, puzzles, everything was perfect, i genuinely cant think of anything bad in this game (i try to give contructive critism when i write long comments like this, but this time i simply cant, nothing was "bad", sure its not perfect but its pretty close). i know by the time im writing this comment on the page this is an old project, but its important to remember that even old creations can hold up over time if done right, tysm the hardworking dev team for creating this game :3
Empecé a jugar este jueguito porque lo vi de casualidad mientras buscaba juegos gratis. No lo he jugado al 100%, pero tengo que decir que lo recomiendo muchísimo en serio ✨✨✨
Pls play it!!!
In any RPG Maker VX Ace game, press F1 to open up the engine's settings menu then set the engine to your personal preferences then close the menu and your settings will be systematically applied to every game you will play using this engine and here you go. 😉
it seems the background music is glitched somehow cause when i disable it by pressing f2 the rest of the audio is fine (like footsteps and stuff) please helpp D: i really wanna play the game!
It was a beautiful experience and the characters were endearing and lovely. I cannot wait for your next projects, I will always keep Aria's Story in my heart. 🥹
I actually prefer the "bad" and "normal" endings over the "good" and "true" endings, especially since the Perfect Ending breaks the fourth wall and makes every other ending feel fake after it, even the "true" ending feels fake after the fourth wall breaking ending. 😏
I dislike the "true" ending because it basically claims that even though Aria is alive, she is dead, which makes no sense as it basically denies the reality of her existence but I despise even more the new "good" ending because it is actually hypocritical as it claims that "Aria doesn't have to be Aria because she can be her own person" only to have her memory erased then her being rewritten from scratch by Lewin who designed her new personality all by himself without her having a say in it, so much for "you are free to decide how you want to be".
The "normal" ending is supposed to be a failure because the player failed to discover the truth however it actually makes more sense and offers a better outcome than the "good" and "true" endings as Aria wakes up in the real world as if she merely had a nightmare and life continues normally without anyone having to die to revive Aria, which makes the new "bad" ending claiming that "the quill has to take a loved one to give back another" absurd since Aria is alive in the real world and no one dies in the "normal" ending.
Moreover, the "bad" ending actually already kills the fictional Aria to revive the original Aria and therefore the sacrifice is already made.
The "Perfect Ending" feels as if Aria is fed up of Lydia not being able to write a good ending and decides to take matters into her own hands, which I love! 🤣
I just finished this game last night and I must say, absolutely one of the best RPG Maker games I've ever played. I would put this up there with Ib, another one of my favorites, ranked just below OneShot.
The story in this game was excellent, the endings were wildly different and all intriguing, and the characters were instantly likable. 10/10
Amazing game. The spooks were THERE. The story, CAPTIVATING. I CAN NOT wait to see your future projects. Consider me a fan! :) You do not HAVE to, but I would appreciate it if you take a look at a playlist I made of my "letsplay" that I made for this game. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for this game. I hope to see your next project soon!!!
Wow, I absolutely love this masterpiece! I noticed many elements similar to those I saw in The Witch's House, such as toy soldiers and teddy bears. Moreover, the game's story is really captivating and interesting. Thank you, Lydia, and I hope to see more games like this masterpiece on itch.io in the future.
Aria´s Story was the first game of RPG MAKER that i knew, in 2019 -2018 i think. The amount of love that i have for this game is huge, maan, this game made me love the pixel art and RPGS. It was hard to find a way to play this bc, ehem, i have a Mac but i finally made it. This game felt nostalgic and cozy -SOMETIMES- for me, i cried a lot just by thinking that the experience of playing this masterpiece was ending. I cant explain how much i love this game, but really, thank you Lydia <3 We love you!
i just finished it and it was amazing. definitely one of the best games i found on itch.io. i fell in love with the characters, and the puzzles were great. i'm not gonna lie, it was scary but it made the game even better.
when it comes to playtime, it took me 5 hours. also, the amount of times i died is embarrasing lmao.. i needed to save the game every 5 minutes just in case i do something dumb and ended up with like 90 saves.
(spoiler)
At first i unlocked the bad / "perfect" ending and i was so flabbergasted lmaoo i did't expect it to end like that. i was so shocked when Aria 's personality suddenly changed at the end. this plot twist was crazy tbh. but after that i unlocked the true ending, and i'm honestly satisfied with it (even tho it was kinda sad).
anyway, keep up the good work, in the "additional content" room there was mentioned another game you made, i'm definitely gonna play it as well <3

Did you play The Witch's House and Pocket Mirror?
EDIT: Hitting F1 and selecting the Play BGM and ME check box worked.
Is there supposed to be music playing? I am not hearing any music.

Aria's Story is made with the software RPG Maker but it is not a RPG, it is an horror game.
And if you enjoyed it so much, did you play Pocket Mirror as well?
feel lost
good
